About the photographerLinda Kane Brinckerhoff

Artist’s Bio
Fairfield, Connecticut photographer Linda Kane Brinckerhoff has always been fascinated by imagery. Growing up in a family of artists and engineers, she was nurtured on both creative and technical problem solving. The desire to combine her creative and technical talents led her to discover the technical / creative world  and rigors and rewards of photography. By fusing her love for photography with a strong background in digital technology, she elevates her portraits, landscape and still-life images to fine art. Passionate about finding non-traditional and unique ways to capture a moment or the essence of a personality, Linda views photography as a way of revealing a hidden depth of grace and beauty.

Images by Linda Kane Brinckerhoff have been published in Fodor’s Travel Guides, Popular Photography magazine and Connecticut and New York periodicals. Her work has been shown in numerous solo and group shows locally and nationally and international salons. Primarily self-taught, Linda has enhanced her craft and expanded her repertoire in workshops and seminars conducted by many of the top American photojournalists, portrait, food and nature photographers, including W. Eugene Smith, Jay Maisel, Joe McNally, Tony Sweet, Bobbi Lane, Cliff Mautner, Pauline St. Denis, Lou Manna, and Adam Jones.

Linda Kane Brinckerhoff is a member of the Professional Photographers of America, the Connecticut Association of Photographers, the Fairfield Photographers Network, the Stamford Photography Club and the National Association of Photoshop Professionals. She is an Exhibiting Member of the Rowayton Arts Center.

Accomplished in photographing people and events in both formal and photojournalistic styles, she is also experienced in photographing special needs individuals. Her sleeping infant portraits have earned her the name “The Baby Whisperer” of photographers.  Skilled in body-enhancing photo retouching, which she performs upon request, Linda works exclusively with state-of-the art professional digital SLR Nikon cameras and lenses.

Linda Kane Brinckerhoff is a volunteer with the Daughters of Charity Community Ministries in Bridgeport, CT and
the Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep (NILMDTS) National Organization, which "provides the gift of remembrance photography to parents suffering the loss of a baby."

Artists Statement

“Sometimes when I photograph a beautiful scene, I know it is perfect,” Linda says. “The shutter opens and closes and I know that I have captured something pure, maybe iconic. There is no need to alter it. But other times an image will be a creative starting point for digital painting and collaging, taking me on a creative journey as I experiment with different effects, altering the light, adding or subtracting color. I just have to trust the process – I don’t always know where it will lead me. It is the journey I enjoy. The destination is the final product and what I give to others.
